Tummy Tuck Vs Liposuction

Tummy Tuck Vs Liposuction; which is better for me? This is the first question most people who have excess abdominal fat ask when they start preparing for cosmetic surgery. Two of the most common methods used to reduce abdominal fat today are liposuction and tummy tuck. Oftentimes, people confuse or use the two interchangeably. These are two different surgical procedures that aim to change the appearance of the abdominal region to create a flatter and smaller look.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a type of cosmetic surgical procedure that uses a suction technique to remove fat from specific areas of the body.

Tummy Tuck Vs Liposuction – Can I Get Pregnant After Both Procedures?

This is a major concern for many women. A lot of women want to to know if liposuction or tummy tuck would affect their chances of getting pregnant. If pregnancy would ruin the results from the procedures. What would happen if they experience weight gain during pregnancy, etc.

Tummy tuck helps to improve the appearance of muscle and skin in the abdominal region. While it doesn’t affect the chances of getting pregnant, it’s best done after one has completed childbirth as pregnancy often comes with some general weight gain and stretching of muscles around certain areas of the body.

Once the baby is born, many women lose the weight they gained in the first year. However, some struggle to shed the baby weight. In this case, post-pregnancy liposuction procedures may be required. Liposuction does not affect fertility and therefore, will not affect your ability to get pregnant.

Body contouring results of cosmetic surgery will remain even when one has some weight gain following pregnancy. No matter how much weight you gain during pregnancy, you won’t carry the weight in the areas treated with liposuction the same way.

Tummy Tuck Vs Liposuction – Which Is Better For You?

It depends on you and other factors! If you are yet to complete childbirth, liposuction would be better for you. If you have completed childbirth, have excess fat in some areas but no excess loose skin, liposuction is better for you too. If you have completed childbirth and have both excess fat and loose skin, a tummy tuck would be best for you.

Whichever you choose from these two surgical procedures, we are always a call and visit away!
