What are Botox Injections?
BOTOX, Xeomin, Dysport are brand names of a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. They are approved for the treatment of frown lines on the forehead, crow’s feet (lines around the eye), and wrinkles.
How does Botox work?
Botulinum toxin blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscles. The injected muscle can no longer contract (tighten) forcefully, which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften.
How is the Botox procedure performed?
Prior to the procedure, a topical anaesthetic is applied to minimize discomfort. Afterwards, BOTOX is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles.
The procedure takes only a few minutes and It generally takes 3 to 7 days, but sometimes even as long as 2 weeks, to take full effect.
Recovery time of Botox?
There is no downtime.
What are the side effects of Botox?
The common side effects of botox include discomfort, redness, swelling and bruising at the injection points. However, this subsides in about 24-48 hours.
