What is Laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is the process of removing unwanted hair by means of exposure to pulses of laser light that destroys the hair follicle.

How does it work?
Laser hair removal works by sending the light of a laser through the pigment in the hair. This (light) converts to heat energy, which damages the hair follicle and hair bulb.

What are the side effects?
The common side effects include redness of the skin, swelling around the treated area, and discomfort. Rarely, skin discoloration (lighter or darker spots), scarring, and infection could occur.

Can i return to work after the procedure?
Patients return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.

Is it a one off treatment?
Hair grows in several phases (anagen, telogen and catagen) and the laser can only affect the currently active growing hair follicles  (anagen). Hence, several sessions are needed to damage the hair in all phases of growth and force it to revert back to a vellus non-colored small hair.
